LCD Through The Years

As we celebrate LCD's 10th year, here's a look back at our history as a destination for the creative and curious looking to explore young and emerging designer fashion. 

 

August 2012

www.LustCovetDesire.com launches with an opening party in Venice, CA. The event features a photography exhibit by Shaniqwa Jarvis, music by Chrissie Miller, and an exclusive pin created for LCD by artist Julia Chiang.

May 2013

LCD's first designer exclusive, an enameled necklace designed by Feliks + Adrik is released.

April 2014

The first of LCD's many designer exclusives with jewelry designer Gabriela Artigas is released, a three-finger chain link ring.

March 2016

LCD opens on Lincoln Blvd, Venice, CA, featuring an outdoor garden installation by Merchant Modern, a book shelf curated by Moran Moran Gallery, and furniture pieces designed by Artless Corporation. Sales immediately quintuple.

July 2017

LCD makes the big move to Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, CA, "America's Coolest Block."

August 2017

LCD opens a second, flagship store at ROW DTLA, a new development that will also feature a Tartine Bakery, Bodega Sneaker Shop, Poketo, and Tokyo Bike. The striking space is designed by Hillary Taymour of Collina Strada and features an orange and terracotta tonal look inspired by the work of Spanish architecture firm, Arquitectura G.

October 2017

LCD collaborates with Gabriela Artigas to release a capsule collection of pearl and gold jewelry inspired by the galaxy.

December 2017

The first in an ongoing series of designer exclusives with Collina Strada is released, an embroidered t-shirt that reads, "Phone Home." Ceramic artist and furniture designer Eny Lee Parker partners with LCD to showcase her Artist Line of accessibly-priced ceramic earrings.

January 2018

LCD kicks off a series of events in collaboration with LA's ILoveCreatives (a platform for helping creatives expand their skills and network) with a Q&A with designer Sandy Liang.

April 2018

Popular young shoe brand LoQ partners with LCD on 2 exclusive shoe colorways. Our first designer exclusive shoe!

October 2018

LCD helps to curate a retail pop up and designer exclusives for Sexy Beast, an organization that raises money for Planned Parenthood that focuses on the arts and creative communities in Los Angeles.

November 2018

Art-house favorite creative studio 69 partners with LCD on an exclusive capsule collection of denim and Japanese cotton pieces.

August 2019

Kkco creates its first ever exclusive capsule collection for LCD, and we celebrate with burgers and photoshoot featuring musician Cailin Russo.

November 2019

Sandy Liang creates an exclusive fleece for LCD, inspired by and in honor of LCD founder Geraldine's rescue pitbull Izzy, who is dying of cancer. We celebrate with a doggie party at ROW DTLA featuring pet aura photography.

March 2020

Covid-19 strikes Los Angeles and LCD is forced to shut down both retail locations and furlough staff. All inventory is loaded up and shuttled to Geraldine's house so that we can continue running our online business out of the home so as to comply with LA's lockdown requirements. Only Geraldine and Tiana remain on staff to keep the entire business running.

May 2020

The CFDA awards LCD with a grant from A Common Thread, the initiative by Vogue and the CFDA to aid fashion companies whose businesses are impacted by COVID 19’s economic fallout.

June 2020

LCD Venice re-opens, only to close again as we join the nation for 2 weeks of protesting against police brutality against Black people in America.

August 2020

LCD re-opens at ROW DTLA, in a new location and with mask mandates in place.

LCD's second location at ROW DTLA. 

January 2021

Collina Strada launches a permanent "shop-in-shop" at LCD Venice. Our ROW DTLA location hosts The Miller's Room, a delicious assortment of vintage curated by stylist Marquise Miller.

March 2021

LCD @ ROW DTLA shuts its doors permanently, another sad consequence of the global pandemic's effects on retail.

May 2022

LCD moves into a larger space on Abbot Kinney, cementing its roots in Venice Beach.
